Ink & Imprint hosts Dr. Seuss birthday party

[March 07, 2026]

On Thursday, March 5, 2026, children and adults alike gathered at Ink & Imprint Bookstore in Lincoln to celebrate the 122nd birthday of Dr. Seuss.

During the event, Ink & Imprint served cupcakes, provided coloring sheets, stickers, and Cat in the Hat hats. Several Dr. Seuss books were on display. Marci from Ink & Imprint read 'If It Were My Birthday Party' to children while some listened to the story and others focused on activities.

Children and adults shared their favorite Dr. Seuss books and rhymes. Fox in Socks and The Lorax were popular among Deiy and Lacey. While Juniper, 6 years old, stated that "Oh, the Places You’ll Go" is her favorite.

Rochelle, an attending parent, and her children, Promise and Victory, discussed Green Eggs and Ham as a family favorite, featuring Sam-I-Am. Rochelle also mentioned that she enjoys Fox and Socks.

Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on March 2, 1904. While studying at Dartmouth College, he began writing under the pen name “Seuss.” In 1957, he published The Cat in the Hat, soon followed by How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and Green Eggs and Ham. Throughout his career, Dr. Seuss published dozens of children’s books.

Notably, Dr. Seuss’s birthday also coincides with the National Education Association’s Read Across America, an annual event established in 1998 to promote reading in schools and families.

Looking beyond the birthday celebration, Marci noted that Ink & Imprint has been hosting local elementary students for a much-loved book fair, offering a new take on the school book fair. Instead of bringing in large silver bookcases, local teachers have partnered with the bookstore to promote a love of books and reading.

Ink & Imprint hosts a monthly book club for adults, further fostering community engagement around books.
