Guzzardo’s and Spirited Republic in
Lincoln joined forces on Monday evening to celebrate the opening of
The Rose Room in Lincoln. The Rose Room is located next door to
Spirited and in front of Guzzardo’s in the location that for several
years was known as the Arcade or Mama’s Arcade.
Not all that long ago, the Arcade shut down, and the two businesses
put their heads together and decided to add the Rose Room to their
excellent line up of food and beverage offerings. Those who were
familiar with the old Arcade would barely recognize the new Rose
Room as being the same place. The only thing it seems that the two
would have in common are its location and the exterior windows.

Inside, the building was completely
gutted out and set up to be a wide-open space with plenty of seating
and lots of walking room. The new room will be used jointly by both
businesses as was explained by Bussey Roate during the ribbon
cutting.

Roate said that the Rose Room was a
partnership between Spirited and Guzzardo’s but that back in the
1950s and 60s, there was a Rose Room where the main Spirited
Republic building is now. It was a place where parties and private
gatherings were held. He said that when it was available again, it
just made sense that it be turned into a shared space for Guzzardo’s
and Spirited.

It was also shared that the Rose Room
is named after John Guzzardo’s mother, Rose.

The Monday evening celebration was an
invitation only event that started with a ribbon cut. Behind the
ribbon was special guest John Guzzardo and wife Gail, Nick, Shelley
and J.T. Guzzardo, Bussey and Colleen Roate, Troy Hanger, Jan
Gleason, Zak Luken, Beforehand, Colleen said that there had been
many people who had worked beside the business owners to transform
the room. Those people were also behind the ribbon and included Luke
Hanger, Harrison Hanger, George Roate, Tucker Roate, and Jeff Short.

After Bussey spoke at the ribbon
cutting, Nick also spoke. He said that he and his felt so blessed to
be a part of the new addition. He said that the evening was about
acknowledging all the help and support that was received during the
transformation. He acknowledged the Roates, the Hangers and the
Shorts and said that they had done all the work, and he felt blessed
and thankful.

With the speeches concluded the group
stood for the posed picture then the guests in the room assisted
with the countdown and Colleen Roate did the honors of snipping the
ribbon.

At the back of the room was a hefty
selection of appetizers that Nick encouraged everyone to enjoy as he
announced that the dinner would begin at 6 p.m.
