Letters to the Editor

Lincoln Daily News welcomes letters of appreciation, information and opinion on matters pertaining to the community.

Controversial issues:
As a community we need to be able to talk openly about matters that affect the quality of our lives. The most effective and least offensive manner to get your point across is to stick to the issue and refrain from commenting on another person's opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

Editor's note: Some time ago a young man from out of state ask that we run a request for information on Illinois in our "Letters to the Editor" Section. He was requesting information and items as part of a class project. The following was recently received in a second letter.

Dear People of the Great State of Illinois,

Thanks you so much for responding to my letter to the people of Illinois. I appreciate you sending me food and lots of other things. My favorite item was the letters because I learned a lot about Illinois.

The most unique fact I learned about Illinois is from the top of the Sears Tower you can see Lake Michigan on one side and Chicago on the other side.

On May 22, our entire grade displayed our floats at the State Fair. I've included a picture of my float. I hope I made you proud!

[to top of second column in this letter]

I really appreciate that you took the time to send me items and information about Illinois.

Sincerely,
Gus
